I’ve now been on my second First Date.\u00a0 This time we went for a movie first, and then grabbed some coffee afterwards.<\/p>\n
First off, if you haven’t seen it, Life of Pi<\/em> was an amazing movie.\u00a0 It was so visually arresting, and I cried several times. We saw it in 3D and it was, for once, well worth the price.\u00a0 And, interesting fact, bananas float.<\/p>\n As far as anything else floating, lead balloons come to mind.\u00a0 My date was\u00a0pleasant enough\u00a0and reminded me of someone I would meet in a good baptist church back when I was a good christian girl. I was afraid to say too much for fear that I would assault his fine sensibilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n We had differing opinions of what the message of the Oscar-winning black & white movie\u00a0Marty<\/em> was all about.\u00a0 I think that said a lot.\u00a0 He also seemed eager to talk about himself, but not really ask much about me.\u00a0 I found myself prompting the conversation along, and when I purposely stopped talking so he could discuss things of his choosing or ask me questions, there was silence.<\/p>\n I felt very young next to him and very wild and uncouth.\u00a0 I was like a hippie trying to strike up a conversation with a Republican.\u00a0 It reminded me a lot of a scene from Same Time Next Year<\/em> with Ellen Burstyn and Alan Alda.\u00a0 Without all the passion.\u00a0<\/p>\n The date ended rather quickly, and he asked me whether he could just drop me off or if he needed to park and hug me a second time.\u00a0 Then he told me I was definitely geeky and that he would like to attend Geek Meets.\u00a0 But didn’t mention a second date.\u00a0 I was\u00a0 relieved.\u00a0 However, he did follow up pretty quickly with an email thanking me for the date and telling me liked geeky.\u00a0 Still no mention of a second date.<\/p>\n I think I would scare him running into the hills on a second date.\u00a0 Like a citizen running from Geekzilla.\u00a0 He really should save himself.<\/p>\n The first First Date, I felt like the\u00a0more mature person.\u00a0 This time I felt like the more wild and youthful person.\u00a0 Third time’s the charm?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I’ve now been on my second First Date.\u00a0 This time we went for a movie first, and then grabbed some coffee afterwards.
