{"id":113,"date":"2013-01-07T15:50:24","date_gmt":"2013-01-07T15:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joeywrites.com\/?p=113"},"modified":"2013-01-09T19:31:06","modified_gmt":"2013-01-09T19:31:06","slug":"its-up-two-u","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joeywrites.com\/?p=113","title":{"rendered":"Its Up Two U"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I rewrote my dating profile this weekend after a male friend who was on the same\u00a0site took a look at it for me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;You need to sell yourself more,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0 he said. <em>&#8220;You need to forget about being humble and just put out the best things about you and stick by them.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard.\u00a0 I was not raised to say, &#8220;HEY I&#8217;M AWESOME &#8211; YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DATE ME!&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>These profiles can make you feel like a used car salesman.\u00a0 So for fun, I wrote up this profile and posted it on Facebook for my friends:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1970s model with a few miles, fairly dependable, good for local travel as well as long distance, fairly low maintenance, comfortable upholstery with no major structural damage. Known to turn a few heads, fairly roomy. Too valuable to sell just for parts.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It took the better part of a day to rewrite everything.\u00a0 My male friend (and fellow online dater) said it was quite an improvement, and that made me glad.\u00a0 I even added a special comment to the &#8220;You Should Contact Me If&#8221; section:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Please don&#8217;t message me if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You think &#8220;how r u&#8221; is an acceptable form of communication<\/li>\n<li>You think Hannibal Lecter was a cool role model<\/li>\n<li>You haven&#8217;t taken a bath since last spring<\/li>\n<li>You haven&#8217;t had a job in 6 years and need a sugar momma<\/li>\n<li>Or you are looking for a green card sponsor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I still ended up with this email from someone:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;well hi i see u stop by would u love two chat i must say that u are a gd looking lady i like what i see so lets chat love its all up two u.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I replied with:<\/p>\n<p><em>Thanks for contacting me &#8211; but I don&#8217;t think we would be a good match.\u00a0 I wish you much success in your search!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He responded:<\/p>\n<p><em>Why say that love<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To which I typed:<\/p>\n<p><em>Did you read my profile at all? I just don&#8217;t think we are on the same communication level.\u00a0 But I wish you happiness!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He countered intelligently with:<\/p>\n<p><em>I am not from over over and nother country okay i am from the states okay<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A part of me just wanted to reply with:<\/p>\n<p><em>Who let you near a computer and told this was how you find women?
